    European Council President Charles Michel announced the condemnation of the European Union, "one voice" Belarus's decision to open its borders to illegal immigrants heading to Lithuania in response to European sanctions.

    Michel said during a joint news with Lithuanian President Gatanas Nosida conference in Vilnius on Monday, said that "my colleagues in the European Council clearly stressed that the Belarusian authorities exploit illegal immigration to exert pressure on the European Union, including the countries of Lithuania."

    It is noteworthy that Lithuania declared a state of emergency on Friday after the number of immigrants, most of them Iraqis, who are crossing the border about 150 people per day, in the wake of Belarus opened its borders to immigrants, in response to the EU sanctions against it.


    During the four days from Friday to Monday, over 560 migrants the border between Belarus and Lithuania, to a total population of 1232 people since the beginning of this month.
